Il Kabuki (歌舞伎 kabuki) è una forma di teatro tradizionale giapponese caratterizzato dalla forte stilizzazione dei suoi drammi e per l'elaborato make up degli attori. Ho originariamente realizzato questo facepaint per un contest su YouTube che aveva come tema "Angeli e Demoni". Gli oni non possono essere considerati letteralmente demoni (sono molto più somiglianti agli Ogre) ma ho deciso di realizzare comunque un make up ispirato a questa folkloristica figura giapponese vista la sua doppia natura. All'inizio infatti, venivano considerati spiriti buoni che ogni tanto aiutavano gli umani; recentemente invece vengono visti come creature orribili e malvage capaci di causare disastri, portare malattie e un sacco di altri avvenimenti poco piacevoli. Questa "trasformazione" nel tempo mi ricorda molto la storia degli angeli decaduti... buoni e rispettati all'inizio ma cattivi e disprezzati alla fine. Quindi probabilmente il paragone non è poi così errato.
I realized this facepaint for a contest on YouTube based on Angels and Demons... Oni are not really like demons (more like ogre) but I decide to do an inspired facepaint on this folkloristic japanese character anyway because of they're double nature... in the beginning the were considered good spirits that sometimes help people, but more recently they transformed into evil creatures that caused disasters, diseases, and other unpleasant things. To me, this transition reminds of the story of the fallen angels...good first and bad at the end. So maybe the concept it's not too far.

Finalmente, dopo anni, ho trovato la giusta ispirazione per rappresentare i miei sentimenti. Perchè canzoni come questa sono rare e preziose.
